Chandigarh, Sep 11 - People in Chandigarh and its neighbouring states of Punjab and Haryana got a respite from scorching sun and probably experienced the first shivers of the season, with heavy rainfall in the area for the past three days.
'It is raining in most parts of this region for the last three days. Due to this heavy to very heavy rainfall, there has been a substantial dip of around four to 10 degrees Celsius, in both day and night temperatures in the region,' Chatar Singh Malik, director of meteorological centre at Chandigarh, told IANS Friday.
In Punjab, temperatures at Ludhiana and Patiala cities Friday were recorded at 24 and 23.6 degrees Celsius respectively - nearly 10 degrees below the average temperatures this time of the season.
Meanwhile, in Amritsar temperature was recorded at 29.2 degrees Celsius, which was six degrees below the average.
