New Delhi, Sep 7 - Five men who were involved in over a dozen cases of robbery were arrested here, police said Monday. Four of the men had injured a constable last month when he tried to foil their robbery attempt.
The five robbers who were also involved in a daylight robbery near Safdarjung Hospital in south Delhi were arrested Sunday.
'The criminals had attacked a patrolling constable who tried to resist them during their robbery attempt last month,' said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) H.G.S. Dhaliwal Monday.
Those arrested were identified as Mukesh, Santosh, Kaniyya, Chanderkishor and Dheeraj Soni.
'Acting on prior information about the five accused planning to assemble in a jungle near Safdarjung Enclave to rob the Raj Nagar petrol pump, we swung into action. The jungle was cordoned off and a raiding party was immediately constituted,' he said.
