It had also rejected the plea of Ali and Qamar, who have been lodged in the Tihar jail since 2006, for their discharge in the case as the investigation agency had not found any evidence against them.

Delhi Police's Special Cell arrested Ali and Qamar Feb 9, 2006 from a bus terminal at the G.T. Karnal Road and said they were Al-Badr terrorists. Police claimed that pistols, RDX, detonators and other explosives were recovered from the duo.

The CBI, in its closure report submitted last year, held that the duo were innocent and were wrongly framed. The investigating agency even came to the conclusion that the duo were police informers.
