Referring to several chief ministers' demand for extending the time-frame for police reforms, Maken said that the set of reforms could be prioritised as this would ensure better and quicker implementation.
BPRD's Director General Prasun Mukherjee referred to the acute shortage of manpower being faced by the organisation which, he said, has been one of the major handicaps. At this, Maken directed the ministry officials at the meeting to look into the issue urgently and take necessary steps.
Appreciating the work of BPRD and the publications brought out by it on various aspects of policing and training, the minister said that these works needed to be widely disseminated among police personnel at the ground level for a significant impact.
