New Delhi, Aug 24 - Four more swine flu deaths were reported in India, taking the toll due to influenza A (H1N1) virus to 64, health officials said here Monday.

While two deaths were reported from Karnataka, one person each died in Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Most of the swine flu deaths in the country have been reported from Maharashtra, where the virus has killed 37 people.

'The cumulative laboratory confirmed deaths reported from the states as on Aug 23 were 63,' a health ministry statement issued here said. But one more death was reported in Gujarat Monday afternoon that raised the toll to 64.

The deaths were also reported from Karnataka, where 14 people have died due to the flu, and Tamil Nadu, where three people have succumbed to the virus. Delhi has reported two deaths while in Kerala one person has died.

Although, the health ministry said six people died in Gujarat, the state authorities confirmed seven deaths Monday afternoon.
