Earlier in the day, he also attended a closed door meeting with local party workers in Munshiganj town.

Indian cricketer R.P.Singh, who hails from the neighbouring Rae Bareli (Congress chief Sonia Gandhi's constituency), also reached there to call on Gandhi. Singh left shortly after the meeting, avoiding any interaction with waiting media persons.

The Congress general secretary would also be making surprise visits to some villages in the constituency and would meet members of women's self-help groups there, state congress spokesperson A.P.Singh told IANS.

On the third day of his visit Wednesday, Gandhi will attend the certificate distribution function of the Amethi branch of Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad.
