A group of petitioners has pointed out that illegal slaughtering was on in full swing at private places and residential areas.

In a bunch of public interest petitions, they have sought the removal of illegal tanneries and godowns for melting animal fats and drying animal bellies and intestines on government land in Motia Khan in the heart of the city.

'The Ghazipur abattoir is not sufficient. Actually, there is a huge gap between demand and supply. Why don't you have modern slaughter house in Sadar Bazaar or somewhere else? That is the only solution. Otherwise nothing is going to help us. Illegal slaughtering will continue,' the bench said.
