New Delhi, Aug 12 - Expressing its helplessness to prevent illegal slaughtering in residential areas, particularly in the vicinity of Sadar Bazaar's old abattoir, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) told the Delhi High Court that it does not have any concrete policy on this matter.

The MCD submission came in reply to a remark by a division bench headed by Chief Justice Ajit Prakash Shah and Justice Manmohan. The bench asked the MCD: 'How do you propose to stop the menace? What is your plan of action? What is the solution?'

Not satisfied with the submission, the bench then directed concerned officials and the director of the veterinary department to be present before the court and posted the matter for Aug 19.
