Chennai, Aug 6 - The race track at Sriperumbudur received a clean chit to conduct FIM Petronas Asian Road Racing championship round four Sept 6.
B. Gunardi, Vice-President, Asian Motorcycle Union (UAM), inspected the venue Thursday and gave the green signal.
Gunardi visited the track this morning and suggested a few improvements with regard to safety by way of a gravel trap at three corners.
He said: 'I have advised the MMSC (Madras Motor Sports Club) to put in three gravel traps at the three corners. It's a wonderful and exciting track which has the potential, with minor upgrades, to host other international bike races.'
Also present on the occasion was Ron Hogg of Two Wheels Motor Racing, Malaysia, the promoters of the series and he finalized arrangements for the Chennai leg of the championship.
'We are delighted to get the green signal from the UAM to host the round at Chennai and we looking forward to bringing some top class racing action to India after a gap of 12 years,' Hogg said.
