With help from Pune police, the local police confirmed that it was Shraddha's body.

Her body had several injuries and her hair had been chopped off, making it difficult for the police to easily identify her, Chavan said.

On Monday morning, Anmol returned to Pune and surrendered to the Chaturshringi police after confessing to the crime, he added.

Though the motive behind Shraddha's killing is not yet clear, police are inquiring whether the duo had an affair or had fallen out, Chavan said.

The police have sent the victim's samples for forensic tests to Aurangabad and further investigations are in progress.
