The house was locked from outside. As the police broke the lock and tried to enter the house, the abductors fired at the policemen and the gun battle started,' a police officer said.

'Three abductors were killed and police seized three revolvers, live cartridges and other things from the house. Also, sophisticated weapons were seized from a nearby house,' the officer said.

The abductors had locked Lav Kumar in a bathroom of the house from where he was rescued.

'It is big success for Ranchi police. Three abductors have been killed and weapons have been seized from them,' Senior Superintendent of Police of Ranchi Praveen Kumar Singh told reporters.
