New Delhi, Sep 16 - Even as the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (CGOC) Wednesday claimed that the venues will be ready well on time for the mega-event next year Oct 3-14, there is still a question mark over the completion of facilities for the trial games.
The testing of the wrestling facilities was to be done in December with the Commonwealth Free Style and Greco-Roman Championship, but it has now been shifted to Jalandhar as the Indira Gandhi indoor stadium in nowhere near completion.
The Commonwealth Boxing Championship has also been rescheduled from December this year to February-March next year.
Likewise the Commonwealth Shooting Championship (Feb 17-28) and shooting World Cup (March 19-29) coming off at the Karni Singh ranges is in doubt as construction work is still going on there.
National Rifle Shooting Association president Digvijay Singh said Wednesday he was 'worried' about the test events.
'The completion of the shooting venue before the test events is a matter of great concern for us. The Sports Minister last month visited the venue site and admitted that he was concerned,' he said.
