Police had earlier arrested two students of SAIMS and booked eight others for abusing, rioting and beating two officers of the Infantry School, Mhow, at the college campus.
The two officers were dropping a student they had befriended at a local hotel and had objected to alleged ragging in the college when they were attacked.
The retaliatory action by the armymen came even though the state police, acting on the complaint of Lt Ramandeep Singh Negi, registered cases against 10 college students under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and also arrested two of them.
Army authorities have said that they have launched an investigation into the matter.
