It re-opened March 6, but could not resume production as there was no power connection.
West Bengal State Electricity Development Company Limited (WBSEDCL) disconnected power connection to the Dunlop unit on account of an outstanding bill of Rs.15.4 crore for the period 1999-2005 when the Sahaganj unit remained closed.
At the time, Dunlop was owned by Manohar Rajaram Chhabria. After Chhabria's death, Ruia acquired the company from his family in 2005 and resumed commercial production in January 2007.
The company has paid Rs.2 crore to the power utility, with the remaining to be paid in 108 monthly instalments over nine years.
