Lucknow, Aug 31 - The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) government is finding itself in a tight spot as its political opponents are sparing no effort to slam its failure to provide better living facilities to the family of the 1965 India-Pakistan war hero Abdul Hamid.

The Samajwadi Party (SP), Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have all come out in the support of Hamid's grandson Shameem Ahmed, and are mounting pressure on the state government to fulfill the assurances made to the Param Vir Chakra winner's family last September.

Congress's state unit chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi Monday met Ahmed, who along with his relatives, has been staging a protest sit-in here since last week against the negligent attitude of the state government towards his family, and assured him to make every effort for improving his living conditions.

Leaders of other political outfits have also criticised the Uttar Pradesh government for not fulfilling its promises made to Abdul Hamid's family.

'First of all, I want the state government should fulfill its promise related to my employment. In last September, the government had announced to provide me with a permanent job.
