'Due to weak monsoon, the spiralling prices of foodgrain are further shooting up and taking their toll on the poor and other weaker sections of the society. Therefore, the government should make arrangements to ensure immediate supply of foodgrain to poor and needy at nominal prices,' he added.

'Establishment of village seed banks, foodgrain banks, feed and fodder banks, water banks and village knowledge centres for early warning and information sharing will also go a long way in mitigating the adverse impacts arising from climate change,' he said.

The BJP president said there is an urgent need to resolve the deepening agrarian crisis 'through a dynamic and long-term action plan.'

'The BJP demands that a national task force on adaptation to climate change and sustainable agriculture should immediately be created,' he said.
