Tata Power consolidated net more than doubles
Mumbai: Tata Power Friday said its consolidated net profit increased to Rs.572.65 crore in the first quarter this fiscal, as against Rs.2,19.85 crore in the like period last year.
Total income increased to Rs.4,713.16 crore for the quarter ended June 30, against Rs.4,069.34 crore in the same quarter in the previous corresponding year, Tata Power said in a regulatory statement.

Bharat Refractories to merge with SAIL
Mumbai: The corporate affairs ministry has approved the merger of Bharat Refractories, under the steel ministry, with the state-owned behemoth Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL).
'The appointed date of amalgamation is April 1, 2007,' SAIL said in a regulatory statement Friday.

ICAI study circle for practising CAs
Bangalore: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has set up its first study circle for practising chartered accountants (CAs) at the Infosys Technologies campus in the electronics city, the institute said Friday.
The facility will provide a platform for knowledge-sharing among the CA fraternity working in the electronics city, about 20 km from Bangalore, to keep pace with the dynamics of change in accounts and audits, ICAI said in a statement.
