M. Jacob told reporters that the government should remove Vinson M. Paul who leads the investigation in the case.

'The truth will never come out if Paul, considered an officer in the good books of the state government, heads the investigations,' said Jacob.

K. Surendran, president of the Bharatiya Yuva Morcha, said: 'The home department is protecting the lumpen elements. Chief Minister (V.S) Achuthanandan should remove Balakrishnan from the cabinet.'

Meanwhile, police have formed a 15-member special squad to track down the two men who travelled with George at the time of murder. Both are believed to have fled to Tamil Nadu.
