Chidambaram is likely to visit Bihar to discuss the Maoist problem, though the date of his visit is yet to be finalised.

The two-day strike by Maoists to protest the arrest of two of their leaders led to some violence in Bihar. The Ismailpur railway station in Gaya district was burnt Tuesday night by a group of armed Maoists. They asked the railway employees to leave the station before burning it. The incident disrupted rail traffic for hours.

In another incident, Maoists blasted two mobile phone towers in Gaya and set four vehicles in Tilhautu in Rohtas district on fire.

The strike ended late Tuesday night.

According to police records, Maoists in Bihar have killed 24 policemen and have injured 22 seriously this year.
