Maxwell said he married the supermodel in New York in 2002 and since his wife, being a supermodel, was reluctant to give up her career, he gave up his own business of film production so he could take care of their daughter Ksha, born to them June 2005.

He told the court that his marriage with Raut eventually turned sour with his wife moving a Mumbai family court for divorce in 2008. He alleged she 'being an extremely influential and powerful person', has created havoc in his life by lodging false complaints against him.

He claimed Raut was out to exercise all her influence at her command to throw him out of India and it was she who got his PIO card cancelled by misusing her influence with bureaucrats.
