'The aim of my visit in these schools was to make myself aware about the difficulties faced by the teachers and the students. Our aim is to provide education to children as their fundamental right in the best possible environment,' he said.
The minister said India has 530 million people below 25 years of age whereas the total population of European countries is 480 million, and he had urged the state governments to use this generation as their assets and to provide them quality education.
Beside this, the HRD minister also initiated a new scheme Tuesday, under which a regular grant of Rs.50,000 will be given to schools, which included a sum of Rs.10,000 for the purchase of books.
