New Delhi, Aug 18 - Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat Tuesday said Bharatiya Janata Party veteran L.K. Advani's decisions to resign as leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha after the party's poll debacle and to continue in the post later were his own.
'We did not tell anything to Mr Advani at that time. Advaniji took both decisions on his own,' Bhagwat told Times Now television channel in an interview.
He said: 'On 1st of June during my transit (as RSS chief), Advaniji met me in Delhi and he told me that 'I (Advani) took the responsibility (for the debacle); I resigned'.'
And Bhagwat added, quoting Advani: 'But then my colleagues of the party came to me and asked, 'You were prepared to be prime minister if we had won, then why are you running away from this responsibility?' I found some substance in their thing, did rethinking.
