However, Sibal maintained that the results of Class 10 exams alone would not be the parameter to judge a student and his/her overall performance will be assessed on the basis of comprehensive and continuous evaluation.

'Board exams will be scrapped in the classes fifth and eighth in the schools across the country. They just put undue pressure on the children,' the minister said.

Sibal was here to participate in an interactive session with parents and students of the region.

He has already attended similar sessions in the coming days at Guwahati, Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram.
