Ranchi, Aug 14 - A probe was ordered Friday into the killing of two residents of a village on the outskirts of the Jharkhand capital Wednesday night after villagers charged the police with gunning them down and then terming it a shootout.
Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Praveen Singh ordered a probe into the killing of Deepak Gope, 35 and Ghasia Oraon, 36 -- allegedly gunned down by police while they were returning home near Chandmarcha village on the outskirts of Ranchi.
The probe will be carried out by the area sub divisional officer (SDO) and deputy superintendent of police.
According to the villagers, the two were returning home after having dinner at a friend's house, when a police team fired on them without any reason, killing both on the spot.
