New Delhi, Aug 12 - After arranging for his team to train at the Nou Camp in Barcelona, India's chief football coach Bob Houghton was utterly disappointed with the training facilities back home as the national team got down to practice Wednesday for the Nehru Cup.
After a two-hour practice session at the Devilal Sports Complex in Gurgaon, Houghton informed the All India Football Federation (AIFF) that he was unhappy with the pathetic ground conditions.
'Now, the most important thing for us is to stay focused. We can't allow these things to lose our focus. In fact, we should use these things to motivate ourselves. It is unfortunate that we are training here,' Houghton told reporters.
Houghton was also unhappy with the fact the Ambedkar Stadium, the venue of the Nehru Cup, was being used by the Delhi government for the Independence Day celebrations.
'It is a shame that in India, which is so huge, we don't have training facilities. More than a disadvantage it is a disappointment for the boys,' he said.
But more than training facilities, the Briton will have a tough time in sorting out his attack.
Houghton admitted that ace striker Sunil Chettri is doubtful and Sushil Singh is also suffering a niggle in his hamstring. The coach said that Air India forward Subhash Singh will be called to the camp.
