Rae Bareli, Aug 10 - Congress president and Rae Bareli MP Sonia Gandhi Monday visited over a dozen villages in her constituency to check development works there.
The United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson landed in Lucknow around 9 a.m. and later left for Rae Bareli where she will spend three days.
She visited over a dozen villages, including Kurli Sudauli, Despur, Akhileshwar, Rajamau, Chauhaniya, Pahadpur, Hasratulganj villages, state congress spokesperson Akhilesh Pratap singh told IANS.
Sonia held meetings and inquired about the development works there, particularly about the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS), a flagship programme of the UPA government, Singh said.
'Her main focus was on the NREGS and development schemess and how effectively they are being implemented by the state government,' Diptani Srivastava, block head of a self help group, said.
