'The people had voted for the Trinamool Congress, as is evident from the Lok Sabha elections, where our candidate won by a handsome margin. The Congress got good amount of votes in the municipal polls as it was aligned to us,' Banerjee told a rally here.

'The Congress has betrayed us. It has betrayed the people. They will have to pay dearly for this,' she said.

She said the Congress had the freedom to take its own decision. 'But when they have formed the board with parties like the BJP, they could have told the people of their intentions before the elections'.
