Kolkata, Aug 9 - A Congress party delegation Sunday visited the trouble-prone Mangalkot area in West Bengal to assess the law and order situation there.
The team, led by state Congress working president Subrata Mukherjee, toured Dhanyarukhi village in Burdwan district and also held a public meeting with a handful of people.
'There's a silence of graveyard in Mangalkot. At least 200 people are still homeless and they are living at various relief camps,' state Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader Manas Bhuinya said.
'We want all people to be back in their village of Mangalkot. The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M)-sponsored violence should come to an end so that people can lead a normal and peaceful life here,' he said.
