Bhopal, July 12 - A gang selling fake gold biscuits to unsuspecting customers was busted with the arrest of five people here Sunday, police said.

The modus operandi of the gang was simple. They would claim that they had found gold biscuits while digging but couldn't sell them because jewellers won't believe them due to their poor background. They would then sell the fake gold biscuits to unsuspecting customers at a comparatively lower price.

'People involved in this racket used to make calls from places as far as Haryana, Rajasthan and some parts of western Uttar Pradesh telling their prospective clients that they had gold biscuits which they were prepared to sell at prices much less than the market price,' Superintendent of Police Jaideep Prasad said.
