We suspect that a dangerous proportion of some chemical was mixed in the can to prepare duplicate milk,' Superintendent of Police (East) Paresh Pandey told IANS.
The samples have been sent to the laboratory for checking and strict action will be taken against those found involved in selling adulterated items, he added.
The raids were conducted to check supply of adulterated edible commodities a day before the Raksha Bandhan festival.
'We have issued instructions to police across the state to conduct raids to check this menace specially before the festive season,' Additional Director General of Police Brijlal told reporters.
