Lucknow, Aug 4 - A joint team of the Lucknow police and local administration Tuesday raided prominent food markets of the city and collected over hundred samples of milk, ghee (clarified butter) and khoya (ricotta cheese), after information about sale of spurious and adulterated edible items.
The raids were conducted in the four major markets of Charbagh, Naka, Thakurganj and Kursi Road areas. However, no arrests were made as the shopkeepers, sensing trouble, fled, leaving their products behind.
Over thousands of litres of allegedly spurious milk was also dumped on the roads of the markets.
'What surprised us that when we poured milk from a container on the ground, dense white fumes started coming up.
