It has been observed that at the end of the fair, the criminals who indulge in the slaughtering business, procure the remaining animals.
'Before transporting the animals, a special permit from the animal husbandry department, declaring that the cattle falls under the category of milch animal and is medically fit, has been made mandatory,' pointed out the spokesman.
The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), the main opposition party of the state, has also condemned the findings.
'Well-organised gangs of criminals, who are indulging in cow slaughter, are active in the state. Police have failed to take timely action. Such incidents are a blot on the state government as the cow occupies a well-regarded position in our society,' INLD president and former chief minister Om Prakash Chautala told reporters here Sunday.
'We demand that a high-level enquiry should be initiated to investigate this whole affair,' he added.
