Chandigarh, Aug 2 - A case has been registered against a second-year engineering student of the Panjab University (PU) for allegedly ragging his junior, police said Sunday.

According to the police, Saurab Nandal of Rohtak town in Haryana studying here at University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) was booked after the hostel warden registered a formal complaint against him.

PU authorities have also suspended the student until the probe against him is over.

'We have suspended the student from the department as well as from the hostel and started an inquiry against him. He had gone to Rohtak Friday night and we will record his statement once he is back,' said a PU Official.

The issue surfaced when some students of Indian Theatre department saw Saurab ragging a first-year student of UIET outside his hostel Friday night.
