Chandigarh, July 11 - A young couple was found dead in a car parked in one of the busiest markets here, police said Saturday.

The deceased were both in their early 20s. Gaurav was a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) student in a college in Haryana, while Alisha was a student of arts in a local college.

Police said Gaurav had gone to Sukhna Lake in his car to meet some friends Friday morning. However, when he did not return till late evening and did not answer calls on his cellphone, his sister asked neighbours to look for him.

Gaurav and Alisha were found dead in his car Friday night. A bottle of liquor, a packet of cigarette, condoms and some food items were also found in the car.

'We suspect leakage of gas from the AC (air-conditioner) caused their death. There could be a possibility of suicide but we cannot reach any conclusion as we are waiting for the post mortem report. Our investigation is on and we will also talk to friends and relatives of the couple,' a police official told IANS.
