'The Maoists, who are a degenerated form of the Leftist ultras, are also being used by the anti-communist forces to 'assassinate' our party cadres in West Bengal,' Karat said, adding that CPI-M would defeat these extremist forces politically and ideologically in the coming days.

Talking about the past general elections, he said: 'Electoral reverses happen in the democratic system. We have reviewed our shortcomings and identified the mistakes that we made in the past election. Now, our party will go door to door and ask people for their support.'

Karat said the communists had received enormous support from the common people and it would continue to work for the benefit of the working class in this state.
