Food Minister Punnulal Mohile repeatedly rejected that his government had engineered any scam and said whatever the opposition was quoting as evidence is just 'some mistakes in entering 37 lakh metric tones paddy procurement data in computer'.
But Choubey and Jogi provoked the minister to issue a white paper on paddy procurement and also recommend a CBI probe to unravel the truth as to how the cooperative societies procured thousands of tonnes of paddy only on paper in the last procurement season (Oct 2008-Jan 2009).
The Congress alleged that the cooperatives claimed to have paid millions of rupees to farmers in exchange of paddy but actually the procurement and payment were made only on paper.
