New Delhi, July 29 - The Delhi High Court Wednesday issued a notice to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on a petition of residents that the elevated stretch of the upcoming Central Secretariat-Badarpur line be made underground. The company is compromising on quality to meet the Commonwealth Games 2010 deadline, ther petition alleged.
Admitting the plea of the residents welfare associations of south Delhi, a division bench of Chief Justice Ajit Prakash Shah and Justice Manmohan asked the DMRC to file its reply by Aug 18, the next date of hearing.
The petitioners allege that the Metro is bypassing all the safety measures and cited as an example the accident at Zamrudpur that killed six people July 12.
