A police picket has also been set up to prevent any further violence in the area,' the official said.

'Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) cadres attacked our men and killed them on the spot. The CPI-M is triggering violence as they've seen that people have started supporting Trinamool Congress in the district,' Burdwan district Trinamool Congress leader Joydeb Mukherjee told IANS on phone.

'Despite repeated call from the villagers, police came late. They have not taken any step to catch the assailants,' Mukherjee claimed.
