Noida, July 27 - A man and his wife from Delhi, married for seven years and with two children, were Monday found hanging from an electric pole and a tree along a street in Noida, police said, suspecting it was suicide.
The autopsy report confirmed that the couple died due to asphyxia after they allegedly hanged themselves, Noida district police chief Ashok Kumar told reporters.
The bodies of Pappu Katiyar of Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh and his wife Chatto, originally from Kolkata, were noticed in the morning by passers-by in Noida township's Sector 15A adjoining the national capital.
Police said the couple had a strained relationship and had filed for divorce.
The couple lived in New Delhi after their marriage in 2002.
