Traffic at several places in Mahasamund district on the Kolkata-Mumbai national highway was blocked as roads were flooded, three small bridges had collapsed and some trucks were stuck in roadside ditches.

Several areas of the state's southern Bastar region were cut off due to water-logging of roads and local authorities were working to provide succour to residents.

Relief department officials said the state's major rivers including Shivnath in Durg district were flowing above the danger mark.
