With the arrest of Tasbeer, we are hopeful of solving various cases of smuggling through the international borders in Punjab,' added the official.
Tasbeer is from a village in Gurdaspur district whereas Balbir is a resident of a village in Amritsar district, around 250 km from here.
In the second incident, police arrested a man and seized 2.8 kg of heroin from him in Jalandhar, nearly 150 km from here.
'We are investigating in the matter. The arrested man, Balwant Singh, was just a delivery agent between two drug peddlers. The price of the seized contraband is around Rs.10 crore in the international market,' said a police official.
