New Delhi, Sep 24 - Taking a serious view of a 12-year-old girl being denied admission to a government school, the Delhi High Court asked the school to admit her within a week's time.
A division bench comprising of Chief Justice Ajit Prakash Shah and Justice Manmohan asked the government counsel to make sure that the girl gets admission in Class VI in the government senior secondary school at K-Block, Jahangirpuri, within a week.
The court was hearing a public interest petition by NGO Social Jurist, who contended that Ruby, a student of Class VI, was denied admission without any justified reason.
Disposing off the petition, the court asked the government not to deny admission to children and fulfil their constitutional duty of providing education.
