The bullet first hit Rajesh's uncle in the hand and then hit Chaudhary's head, he said.

Rajesh's uncle, head constable Ramnath posted in Mau district, is still in hospital.

'The bullet has damaged Ramnath's right palm bones and he will undergo a corrective surgery later,' Vijeta said.

Meanwhile, Rajesh is absconding.

'We have raided the house of all their relatives in the city but Rajesh was not found. We are sending a team to Balia district, the native place of Chaudhary, to find some clues,' Vijeta said.

Chaudhary is posted in the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in Varanasi.
