Bangalore, Sep 21 - A video games parlour in a north Karnataka town was attacked Monday by members of the Jaya Karnataka Association, set up by a former underworld don Muthappa Rai, police said.
'About 10 members of Rai's association barged into the games parlour near the old bus stand in Gadag, some 500 km from here and smashed a dozen video machines and furniture, including chairs,' Superintendent of police B.S. Prakash told IANS on phone.
The attackers wanted to shut down the parlour in protest against betting and gambling going on in the guise of video games which, they said, was ruining hundreds of families, police said.
The parlour is run by retired government officials and senior citizens for their members and children under a registered body - Dr Zakir Hussain Association.
