New Delhi, Sep 13 - The Election Commission Sunday ordered the suspension of the police chief and district magistrate of Bhind district in Madhya Pradesh for 'violation of various instructions' of the poll panel during the assembly by-poll held last week.
'Election Commission orders the suspension of district magistrate and superintendent of police of Bhind in Madhya Pradesh for violation of various instructions of the commission during assembly by-elections in the district,' a release issued by the commission said.
The killing of Congress legislator Makhanlal Jatav during the April-May Lok Sabha polls resulted in a by-poll in the Gohad assembly constituency. The by-election was held Sep 10.
The Election Commission said the two officials were issued notices earlier asking them to give an explanation for their actions by Sep 11.
