Kolkata, Sep 10 - A day after Bhaichung Bhutia demanded Rs.10 million from city giants Mohun Bagan for defaming him, the club Thursday alleged that the national football captain was being 'misled' by others.
'Bhutia has become a laughing stock. People are misleading him. He is taking guidance form all wrong people. What he is doing does not behove a person of his stature,' Bagan general secretary Anjan Mitra told mediapersons here.
Bhutia had claimed the amount before the arbitrator appointed by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to settle the dispute between him and the club.
Bhutia's counsel Ushanath Banerjee filed the claim before the arbitrator, former additional solicitor general Amrendra Sharan, alleging that the club had damaged the player's reputation.
The Kolkata club has suspended Bhutia for six months for missing an exhibition match and some of the team's practice sessions last season.
