Jammu, Sep 10 - Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti was injured when her car overturned on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway Thursday evening, police here said.

Mehbooba was travelling towards Jammu in her bullet-proof Ambassador car after addressing a series of meetings in the Doda district when the vehicle skidded off the road and rolled down into a ditch - four to five feet below the road level.

A PDP statement said she was immediately brought out of the car by her partymen and taken to Government Medical College Hospital at Jammu. She suffered minor facial injuries and was discharged by after first aid.

The accident took place near Jhajjar Kotli, 35 km from here.

Incidentally, the PDP chief, in her speech earlier in the day, had lashed out at the ruling Congress-National Conference government for the bad condition of the roads in the mountainous district, which, she alleged, was leading to a spate of accidents in the region, the release said.
