Kolkata, Sep 7 - India's last medal hope in the 45th World Archery Championship ended after a crushing 216-221 defeat to China in the quarterfinals of the men's recurve team event at Ulsan, South Korea Monday.
The third-ranked Indian trio of Rahul Banerjee, Mangal Singh Champia and Jayanta Talukdar, won the pre-quarterfinals against 11th ranked Malaysia 217-207. But sixth-seeded China proved superior, as India's forgettable campaign came to an end.
China, however, lost to second-seeded France in the semifinals.
China will play Japan, the other losing semifinalists, in the bronze medal play-off, according to information received here.
The gold medal clash will involve world champion Korea and France Tuesday.
