Patna, Sep 3 - A Bihar court Thursday issued summons to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in a case relating to firing in an election booth in 1991 in which one person was killed.
A court in Barh has issued summons to Nitish Kumar, Dularchand Yadav, a known gangster, and two others.
Nitish Kumar was the candidate from the Barh parliamentary constituency in the May-June 1991 Lok Sabha polls. However, the election was countermanded by the Election Commission and held again in November 1991. Nitish Kumar won on a Janata Dal ticket.
Meanwhile, reacting to the issuing of summons on Nitish Kumar, opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad and his ally Lok Jan Shakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan have asked for the resignation of the chief minister.
'Since the court has issued summons to Nitish in a case of murder, he should step down on moral grounds,' Lalu Prasad said.
