New Delhi, Sep 3 - Congress president Sonia Gandhi Thursday said Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy had told her during pre-election meetings that she should trust his judgement as he knew the people of his state.
In a moving tribute to the leader who died in a helicopter crash, she said he took part in meetings with her and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to discuss strategy ahead of the May election.
'Naturally, some of us were concerned (of the outcome),' she said, adding that YSR told her and the prime minister: 'You trust me. I know the people of Andhra. I know that my colleagues and I have done tremendous work.
'He was right and we have no words to express our pain, our anguish,' she told the media after the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting with Manmohan Singh standing beside her.
